Leah & Jerry at Oklahoma ShowLeah and I have been traveling quite a bit the last couple months, most recently to Oklahoma for a show at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.  What a cool place – the best museum I’ve ever seen for a comprehensive showcase of the west, super friendly people, and an overwhelming amount of exceptional paintings.

I’m honored to have been invited back to participate in their Small Works, Great Wonders show. This western themed show is on display until November 29th with proceeds benefiting the museum. This event features paintings and sculptures by Museum Prix de West artists and other invited artists.  Two of my pieces shown below are in the show.

This year in particular we’ve had more deer and fawns hanging around our place than usual, which are really fun to watch.  I shared a couple recent video clips on my Facebook page but you can also see them here.

Having the deer around inspired me to do a painting, which has been condensed into this short video showing the painting process.

A Helping Hand - painting by Jerry MarkhamCongratulations to a very nice couple from Kamloops who won this painting through Zimbabwe Project!

Zimbabwe Project helps communities in Zimbabwe become self-sustaining through raising pigs and poultry, gardening, sewing, carpentry, working with schools, etc. A few years ago my wife Leah traveled with my family and a group of people to Zimbabwe to help build a feeding centre for orphans (a photo taken from that trip was inspiration for this painting).  Since then my sister Angela has continued work in Zimbabwe through www.zimbabweproject.com

This painting was available through ticket sales at Zimbabwe Project fundraising events across Western Canada. Congratulations to the winners!
